WHITE ON STATE, 6-16-07
Thousands of people came down to State Street and Lemon Avenue on a hot and steamy Sarasota Saturday evening to be part of a unique event.

The audience was treated to a superb fashion show staged by downtown boutiques and the Sarasota premiere of a fantastic dance act by Tahja and her dancers. In-between the visitors were able to quench their thirst and satisfy their hunger at the vendors' vignettes.
Congratulations to Cheryl Frampton and the Sarasota Downtown Merchants Association for great organization!

I submitted a quote for April 2007's Embracing Our Differences outdoor exhibit celebrating diversity, which will be shown at Sarasota's bay front through April 2007. Embracing Our Differences features 39 billboard-sized images and quotations from across the country. Each creation is a unique interpretation of the celebration's theme "enriching lives through diversity."
I am very honored that my quote was accepted, and would like to share it with you:

Meet my friend ANNIE HASLAM!
To those of you who, like me, followed the prog-rock bands of the Seventies, Annie needs no introduction. She is a singer-songwriter with credits worthy of some of the most well known entertainers in the world. Primarily known for her role as the lead singer with the English classical rock band ‘Renaissance’, she later became equally heralded as a solo artist. Annie has traveled the world delighting audiences, most recently as far off as Japan and Brazil with her angelic five octave voice and warm personality.
As a painter, Annie has been described as a ‘Dream Expressionist’. Her art is organic, yet with a dream-like feel, it is contemporary but does not seem to be influenced by anything other than her own feelings and thoughts.
Earlier this year my brother made me aware of the fact that Annie lives in Pennsylvania, not far from Philadelphia. It is here that she spends her time painting and composing, enjoying the four seasons of the US Eastern Seaboard. So I contacted her, and we have since become firm friends, and rarely a day goes by that we do not correspond.
I am also the proud owner of 2 "original Haslams"; Annie gave me "The Ringmaster" as my birthday present, and it hangs pride of place in my office. And she has also just finished another painting for me, "Land of Possibilities".
